Reed Valves and Breathers

Golf Car Catalog offers reed valves and breather valves for EZGO, Club Car, Yamaha, Columbia, and Harley golf carts.  A reed valve is unique to a 2 cycle engine and is located between the carburetor and the engine.  As the fuel is forced through the carburetor into the engine, this forces the reed valve open.  After the fuel mixture is injected, the reed valve closes so as not to allow the combustion power to escape.  By doing so, it closes off the cylinder so that the only way the combustion can move is to push the piston downward. the reed valve gaskets are used to seal this area tightly to prevent any combustion from escaping.

A breather valve is more specific to 4 cycle golf cart engines and is used to release pressure from the crankcase, Since the air produced here is toxic, it is typically routed back to the carb or air cleaner to be combusted again. The breather valve gasket helps to seal the breather to the engine case.
