Golf cart ignitors are part of the solid state ignition system on most modern carts. Instead of the point set and condenser of old, now there is a magnetic pickup device called a 'pulsar' located inside the engine. As the engine spins the pulsar generates a small magnetically induced electrical signal and sends it to the ignitor. The ignitor boosts the signal and sends it to the ignition coil. The coil then creates the large spark that goes to the spark plug and fires the gas mixture in the cylinder. Ignitors can be the cause of a weak spark or they may fail completely and then the coil cannot create any spark at all.
Golf Car Catalog offers ignitors for use with EZGO, Club Car, Yamaha, Columbia, Harley, Cushman, as well as other golf cart brands.
