This is a separately excited DC motor by D&D Motor Systems is for use with 48V Club Car Regen Systems (PD Plus or IQ). The motor mounts via a 10 tooth female spline coupler used with the Graziano and Kawasaki axles. These axles were used in Club Car and older Yamahas.
It is rated at 11 peak HP and should increase your speed to about 19 mph. Motor will function with the existing controller and is ONLY recommended for use with STOCK controller. If you have any non-stock controller, please give us a call and we'll help you select another separately excited motor for your specific application. This motor actually has about 10% less torque than the stock motor, but about 5 mph more speed (19 mph).
This is a separately excited motor for use only with regen systems (regenerative braking). This is not compatible and cannot be used in series or fleet application. This separately excited motor is only for use with Power Drive Plus Models (Regen I or II) as well as IQ systems. On Club Car products, if you have a manual lever style direction selector beside the driver's leg, you have a "series" system. If your cart has a toggle style rocker switch in the same location rather than a shift lever, it is a separately excited system, and this motor will work in that application. Another "tell-tale" sign is if your cart has a "Tow/Run" switch inside the battery compartment towards the front wall. If you have that switch, you have a separately excited system, and if not, it is a series version.
This motor is NOT to be used with a lift kit or larger tires or with any controller larger than stock. The regenerative braking feature will go away with this motor since it does not have a speed sensor. If you would like to retain the feature please call and ask for a speed sensor. This motor is typically used for higher flat ground speeds. If the cart is lifted with larger tires, or will be used in a hilly or pulling application, you should consider installing a Higher Amperage Separately Excited Speed Controller to further compensate and add to your torque, in which case you would need a different motor. Please call for specifications. For many high performance motors and controller upgrades, you may also need to upgrade to a Higher Performance Solenoid Contactor Relay as well as install a 4 Gauge Performance Power Cable Kit. We've also recently added Performance Solenoid Resistors and Diodes properly sized for these larger current applications.
